Construction sector 'key to Scottish economy' March 4, 2010
First minister of Scotland Alex Salmond is has outlined the importance of the property and construction industries to the country's economy.
Mr Salmond addressed representatives of the commercial property sector today (March 4th) at the Scottish Property Federation's - which was established in 2007 and works closely with political and government figures - annual conference in Edinburgh and is spoke about how the industry is key to the recovery from the recession.
He stated that the sector "makes a substantial contribution to the economy", before adding: "That's why we have brought forward £350 million capital spending to stimulate recovery, employment and benefit the construction sector."
Furthermore, he explained that property and construction firms in the country could also help combat climate change.
Mr Salmond went on to say that he is hoping to continue working with organisations such as the Scottish Property Federation to encouraged continued investment in the industry.
