Engineered Wood Flooring

Featuring a real wood top layer, an engineered floor possesses all the beauty of natural wood, as well as the speed of installation associated with laminate flooring. Constructed from multiple layers of wood that are bonded together in a cross-ply construction, engineered floors provide exceptional strength and dimensional stability. This construction helps control the floor's natural tendency to expand and contract, making it possible to install engineered floors in most rooms of the home.

Jewson stocks Tuscan engineered floors. These are FSC accredited and carry a 10 year guarantee. Manufactured from three layers of natural wood, the bottom consists of 3.5mm coniferous wood, the core, or centre layer of 8mm softwood and the top layer of 3,5mm wood veneer (depending on species). This is coated with as many as seven protective coatings - a UV hardened ground layer, a UV hardened acrylic filler, three layers of UV hardened acrylic primer and two layers of UV hardened acrylic surface finish. (Oiled floors are treated with special oil and are not lacquered.) Tuscan floors may be renovated once by light sanding and re-lacquering.
